My Most Embarrassing Moment

(The old gym in Ririe where I “cheered!”)

The funny thing about this experience is that I wasn’t embarrassed at all when it happened.  I felt perfectly fine about what I had done.  It wasn’t until years later when I realized just how strange my behavior was that day.  I still blush and my eyes water when I think about it.

I was very excited and decided that I would cheer for them.  I knew that cheer leaders used pom-poms, so I bought some blue and gold crepe paper and made me a pair in our school colors.  They were very homemade looking.

(I didn’t really understand the concept and thought it would be perfectly wonderful for me to cheer for our team off to the side of where the pep club and cheerleaders where were sitting.  I would cheer and yell and jump off the bleachers onto the floor waving my pom-poms wildly.  I must have looked like a crazy person! They tried to stop me several times, but I would have none of it.  I told them I had a right to cheer if I wanted to.  Someone I trusted must have explained things to me later because I never did it again.
