I Love Primary!

(My Primary bandalo. We earned each item on it.)

My testimony began in Primary.  There are two things that I vividly remember about being there.

The first was the music.  The songs warmed my soul and filled me with joy.  The first song that I can remember was “Pioneer Children Sang as They Walked.”  In my mind, I was right there walking on the plains with them.  I loved the sweet melodies and the words sunk deep into my little heart.

I have never forgotten how deeply the songs blessed me as a child.  In the darkest hours of my life, the Primary song “Jesus Said Love Everyone” came to my rescue, repeating over and over in my mind, calming my fear and giving me hope.

The second thing was love.  I remember the Primary leaders telling me they loved me.  I could see it in their eyes.  They didn’t even know me and I didn’t know them, but I knew they meant it.  They really did love me!  The warm feeling that came in those moments was the beginning of my testimony.

I learned to never underestimate the influence we can have with children.  Over the years I have had several opportunities to serve in Primary.  I have always tried to look into the children’s eyes and see them as Heavenly Father does.  I love Primary!
